BRELX designs, manufactures and distributes storm braking systems for rail mounted material handling cranes, on shore or inland. Storm brakes are devices which provide braking forces on the crane rails. They prevent a crane from uncontrolled moving along the rails in a case of sudden bursts of wind. They are spring set and hydraulically released, as is the standard in the industry.
Braking Force
Does the industry have a standard to verify if the brakes are actually doing the job? Is there a force on the rail? There are many variables to consider when selecting a storm brake system. These can include the required braking / holding capacity, dynamic braking (assistance to the motor brakes to stop the crane in an emergency situation) and the condition of the rail. BRELX has designed various models of storm brakes to address the above requirements. Thinking outside of the box, we are able to offer new concepts in the operation of storm brakes.
